Lakes Trail / Pear Lake Trail Cross Country Skiing

The 5th most popular XC Ski in California.

East of Fresno in Sequoia National Park, the Pear Lake Trail is a challenging 12 mile backcountry ski to Pear Lake over the Hump at 9,400 feet through towering orange Sequoia trunks. The turn around point is at the Pear Lake Hut in the glacial basin containing several lakes.

To reach the trailhead from Fresno, head east on SR180. Past Squaw Valley, the name changes to SR198. About 20 miles past Wilsonia and Grant Grove, the trailhead acess road is on the left.

Overall, Lakes Trail / Pear Lake Trail is the 5th most popular cross country ski area of all 38 Nordic ski destinations in California.
