Starting from Vail Pass, the Shrine Pass Trail is a popular backcountry ski trail (11 mi.) over the pass to the town of Redcliff. The one-way trek starts at Vail Pass (10,600) with a 2 mile climb up to Shrine Pass (11,090 ) before descending for the last 9 miles into Redcliff (8,700). The route follows old Shrine Pass Road and Turkey Creek through Spruce-Fir forests and open meadows above the tree line.

If your looking for a warm up, check out the nearby Corral Creek Trail (5 mi.) starting atop Vail Pass as well.

Overall, Shrine Pass Trail is the 8th most popular cross country ski area of all 58 Nordic ski destinations in Colorado. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Shrine Pass Trail including Tennessee Pass Mitchell Loop, New York Mountain / Yeoman Park, Tigiwon Trail, Beaver Creek, Vail Golden Peak Nordic and Vail Nordic Center.
