South of Hartford near Farmington, the Winding Trails Cross Country Ski Center is one of the more popular areas in the state offering 20 km of trails groomed daily for classical and skate skiing.

To reach the trailhead from the intersection of SR 4 and SR 10 in Farmington, go northwest on SR 4 for 1.2 miles. Take a right on Devonwood Dr. and travel .25 mile. Turn left on Winding Trail and travel less than .5 mile to the Ski Center.

Overall, Winding Trails is the 2nd most popular cross country ski area of all 7 Nordic ski destinations in Connecticut. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Winding Trails including Pine Mountain Trails and Pachaug State Forest.
