Lolo Pass WInter Sports Area Cross Country Skiing

The 7th most popular XC Ski in Idaho.

Southwest of Missoula in the Clearwater National Forest, the Lolo Pass region bridges both the Lolo and Clearwater National Forests high in the Bitterroot Mountains. Don't underestimate the size or the ruggedness of the Bitterroots! The Lolo Pass Winter Sports Area (Idaho Park-n-Ski permit required) is open from December through March. This heavily forested area provides access to over 80 km of backcountry ski trails, including 10 km of groomed track.

The 3.2 km Glade Creek Trail is the easiest. The 13 km Pack Creek, 9 km Granite Pass and 11 km Lee Creek A Trails are more difficult. The most difficult trails in the area Moose Ridge (23 km), Lee Creek B (11 km) and Wagon Mountain B (11 km), which leads to NFS Lee Creek Campground and Lolo Hot Springs (skins may be required). The only groomed track is Packer Meadows (10 km).

Overall, Lolo Pass WInter Sports Area is the 7th most popular cross country ski area of all 43 Nordic ski destinations in Idaho.
