Northeast of Wallace near Burke in the Panhandle National Forest, the Glidden Creek Trail (#701 / 12.5 mi. / 2700) is a track through a cedar-hemlock forest by alpine lakes offering magnificent vistas into both Montana and Washington. To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead from Wallace, follow SR4 northeast for 6 miles into Burke. Turn onto FS7623 for another six miles to a parking area at Cooper Pass. Also, check out both the Lightning Loop (47 mi.) and Snow Loop (33.5 mi.)

Overall, Glidden Creek Trail is the 25th most popular cross country ski area of all 43 Nordic ski destinations in Idaho.
