Located in the Palisades Ranger District, the Bear Creek trail provides access to a network of well-maintained cross country ski trails. A variety of cross country ski loops are possible through various trail connections. One can easily connect to the extensive trail network in the adjacent Fall Creek drainage. Elevation gains are approx 2500 feet to the ridgetops. Excellent ridge skiing is found on Red Ridge and Deadhorse Ridge.
Overall, Bear Creek/Palisades is the 17th most popular cross country ski area of all 41 Nordic ski destinations in Idaho. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Bear Creek/Palisades including Harriman State Park, Bear Gulch / Mesa Falls, Fall Creek / Swan Valley and Trail Canyon Trail.
