Discovery Basin Cross Country Skiing

The 7th most popular XC Ski in Montana.

Northeast of Butte and Anaconda, the Discovery Basin Ski Area has over 20 km of backcountry trails for exploring on cross country skis. Also, check out the nearby Lodgepole Ridge Ski Trails (8 km) around Georgetown Lake.

To reach the Discovery Basin trailhead from the east, take US90 to Exit 208 onto Highway 1 west towards Anconda (8 miles). Continue west on Highway 1 for 20 miles to Georgetown Lake. Turn right (north) at the Discovery Ski Area and St. Timothys Chapel signs. Continue north for 4.5 miles to the ski area. Follow signs.
