Enchanted Forest Ski Area

The MOST popular cross country ski area in New Mexico.

Northeast of Red River, the Enchanted Forest Ski Area has 30km of groomed cross country ski trails above 9,600 feet in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. There are vast sweeps of dark green forest engulfed by the Enchanted Circle of peaks -- this is the Enchanted Forest. There is a day lodge onsite. They have a 5km route open to dogs, too.

To reach Enchanted Forest from Red River, head east on NM38 toward Eagle Nest. After three miles you will see a very large, brown sign that says, Enchanted Forest. Turn right just past the mile post 16 sign onto dirt road. Go down a small hill and then up a large hill. Follow signs up hill to parking lot. Additional parking on highway lot.

Overall, Enchanted Forest Ski Area is the 1st most popular cross country ski area of all 12 Nordic ski destinations in New Mexico.
