South of Buffalo and Ellicottville near Salamanca, the 65,000 acre Allegheny State Park has a fantastic network of trails designed for cross country skiing traversing rolling terrain. The 45 km of groomed trails start from the day lodge and roll around the surrounding hills through hardwood forests.
To reach the trailhead from US86, use Exit 21. Head south on Parkway Drive (Park Ave. or Route 1). There are trailheads located at 3 miles and 6 miles.
