Located outside Kerhonkson in Sundown Wild Forest, the Vernooy Kill Falls Trail is a technical 10 mile loop along a premier trout stream.

To reach the cross-country skiing trailhead, follow SR209 south to Kerhonkson. Head west on Sampsonville Road and veer left onto Lower Cherry Town Road. Park in area near state trail marker.

Or, from the intersection of CR 3 and US 209 in Kerhonkson, go north on CR 3 (Samsonville-Kerhonkson Rd) for 1.25 miles. Veer left onto Samsonville-Cherrytown Rd and travel 1.4 miles. Turn right onto Cherrytown Rd and go 2.2 miles. Go left on Upper Cherrytown Rd and travel 3 miles to parking on the right, the trail is on the left.

Overall, Vernooy Kill Falls Trail is the 6th most popular cross country ski area of all 61 Nordic ski destinations in New York. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Vernooy Kill Falls Trail including Frost Valley YMCA, Catskill Scenic Trail, Mountain Trails Cross Country Ski Center, Bear Springs Mountain Trail System and Belleayre Mountain Ski Area.
