East of Cleveland near Kirtland in the Lake County Metroparks, the popular Chapin Forest has 10 km of groomed cross-country ski trails rolling through hardwood forests. The top of the Lucky Stone Loop offers a scenic vista over Lake Erie and the downtown Cleveland skyline on the horizon.

To reach the Pine Lodge Parking Area from the intersection of SR 306 and SR 615 in Kirtland, go north on SR 306 for .25 mile to a left on Markell Road. Go 1.5 miles to a left (south) on Hobart Road. Travel 2.3 miles to the west park entrance, turn left into the park. Go left inside the park to the Pine Lodge Parking Area.

Overall, Chapin Forest is the 1st most popular cross country ski area of all 5 Nordic ski destinations in Ohio. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Chapin Forest including Hells Hollow, Lake YMCA and Penitentairy Glen.
