West of Stowe, the Stowe Mountain Cross-Country Center has 42 km of groomed cross country ski trails for skating and classical skiing. The trails consists of long twisting loops with convulsive bumps through deep forest. Expert skiers should check out the Double Bit and Bear Run Trails. The trail pass also provides access to the Toll House Double Chairlift at the adjacent ski area to reach the upper trail systems.
This system also connects with 30 km of backcountry trails in Mount Mansfield State Forest.
To reach the Stowe Mountain Cross Country Center from Stowe, head west on SR108 for about 4 miles. The nordic center is located on the left (south) side of the road at 5781 Mountain Road (aka SR108).
Overall, Stowe Mountain Cross Country Center is the 2nd most popular cross country ski area of all 29 Nordic ski destinations in Vermont. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Stowe Mountain Cross Country Center including Bruce Backcountry Trail and Trapp Family Lodge Cross Country Ski Center.
