North of Rutland near Chittenden, Mountain Top Resort has 80 km of trails through forest and meadows by breathtaking wildlife and terrain. Mountain Top was the first commercial cross country ski center in Vermont, and with over a quarter century of serving the skiing public. The extensive trail system is meticulously groomed to offer a wide variety of classical ski track and skating lanes for our guests. Because of our unique snowmaking system, Mountain Top can blanket 2.5 kilometers of trails with machine made snow to ensure good skiing conditions from December through March when blue skies, sunshine and warm temperatures reward spring skiers.
To reach Mountain Top from New York / New Jersey:
Take NY State thruway to exit #24 (the Northway). Take the Northway to exit 20 (Fort Ann, Rte 149 E). Follow Rte 149 E to Fort Ann. At Fort Ann pick up Rte 4 E to Rutland, VT. Once in Rutland continue on Rte 4 E about 4.5 miles. Look for Meadowlake Drive on your left just past the Sugar and Spice Restaurant. Take Meadowlake Drive all the way to the end and turn right onto Chittenden Road. Follow Chittenden road until just past the Fire Station and turn left and immediately bear to the right of the Civil War monument onto Mountain Top Road. The Mountain Top Inn & Resort will be 2 miles up this road on your right.
