South of Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park, the ungroomed 5.5 mile Bighorn Loop has views of the Gallatin Mountains and Gardners Hole. The cross country ski trailhead is located off the Mammoth-Norris Snow Vehicle Road at Indian Creek Hut.

Overall, Bighorn Loop is the 11th most popular cross country ski area of all 26 Nordic ski destinations in Wyoming. Several of the better cross country ski trails are nearby Bighorn Loop including Snow Pass Trail, Bunsen Peak Trail and Sheepeater Trail.
