Near Essex, the Issac Walton Inn has a 30 km trail system groomed weekly. This cross country ski center is rated in the top 10 resorts in the Rockies. The Inn is located on US2 half way between East Glacier and West Glacier.
Southeast of Bozeman and west of Red Lodge in the Beartooth Mountains, the Red Lodge Nordic Area offers 15 km of cross country skiing trails in 3 loops, groomed weekly. This a warm-up for when youre ready to tackle the wild and the extreme on the Line Creek Plateau Trail which runs the plateau at 10,000 feet.
Near Big Sky, Lone Mountain Ranch has 85km cross country ski trail for diagonal and skate skiiing. The nordic trails have a wide range of difficulties.

Northwest of Troy, the Hellroaring Creek Trail (#204) is an intermittently groomed 12 km track. The trail crosses an alpine ridge and ends at Hidden Lake.
On the southside of West Yellowstone, the Rendezvous Ski Trail System has over 35km of cross-country ski trails groomed daily. Check out the groomed Dead Dog Loop (5.5 km) and groomed Windy Ridge Trail (7 km), along with the nearby Madison River Trail.
