Northwest of Stanhope, the 6900 acre Allamuchy Mountain State Park has 42 miles of trails open to cross country skiing that crisscross forests and marshlands. These trails are split with 15 miles in the Allamuchy Natural Area and 25 miles of unmarked trails in the northern section of Allamuchy.
South of Newark and north of Toms River in Monmouth County, the 3,000 acre Allaire State Park has 17 miles of cross-country skiing trails through flat and gently rolling terrain.
West of Atlantic City and south of Vineland near Woodbine, the 20,700 acre Belleplain State Forest in Cumberland County has 42 miles of cross-country ski trails along flat old roads and abandoned railroad grades. The forest can be reached via the Garden State Parkway.
West of Atlantic City and south of Mays Landing in Atlantic County, the 1,700 acre Estell Manor Park has 12 miles of cross country ski trails. Estell Manor Park is located 3.5 miles south of Mays Landing on Route 50.
East of Wilmington near Hammonton, the 110,000 acre Wharton State Forest has over 500+ miles of cross country skiing trails and logging roads. The trails pass through pine forests with white sandy areas and several river crossings.
North of Newark and east of Vernon in Sussex County, the Wawayanda State Park has 21 miles of ungroomed cross country ski trails. The rolling routes offer nice views of mountains and valleys.
Northwest of Neward near Ringwood in Passaic County, the 4,400 acre Norvin Green State Forest has 23 miles of cross country ski trails over rugged terrain through undistrubed forest. With hills ranging from 400 to 1,300 feet in elevation, Norvin Green provides the avid skier with scenic vistas, including the New York skyline, Burnt Meadow Brook and Lake Sonoma.
