Best Big River State Forest Snowmobiling

North of Oquawka in Henderson County, the Big River State Forest has 46 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, utilizing existing fire lanes, wind through scenic pine forest lands. Trails are open from sunrise to 10 pm. Parking areas, toilets and a warming house are available at the trail head. Forest headquarters is located 6 miles north of Oquawka. The warming house closes at 4 p.m.

While snowmobiling Big River State Forest, all snowmobiles must display a valid State of Illinois snowmobile registration sticker. This is required by both residents and non-residents.

Overall, Big River State Forest is the 8th most popular snowmobile trail of all 18 snowmobiling rides in Illinois.
