Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park Snowmobiling

The 10th most popular snowmobile trail in Illinois.

From Sheffield to Rock Falls, the Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park has 75 miles of signed, scenic snowmobile trails. Snowmobile parking, toilets and a warming house are located at the parkway visitor center just east of Sheffield. Other access points and parking are located at Lock 24 near Geneseo, Lock 23 near Atkinson, Lock 11 near Tiskilwa, Route 92 Bridge 56 near Tampico, Route 40 Bridge 45 south of Rock Falls and Bridge 15 near Sheffield. Numerous historical aqueducts and working canal locks can be viewed along the tree- and shrub-lined canal.

While snowmobiling Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park, all snowmobiles must display a valid State of Illinois snowmobile registration sticker. This is required by both residents and non-residents.

Overall, Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park is the 10th most popular snowmobile trail of all 18 snowmobiling rides in Illinois.
