Best Athabasca Snowmobiling

The 10th most popular snowmobile trail in Alberta.

North of Edmonton, the Athabasca trail system has 350km of groomed, partially signed snowmobile trails. The Athabasca snowmobile trails are maintained by the Athabasca River Runners snowmobile club. There is an additional 50km of trails currently under development.

A stretch of the Trans-Canada Snowmobile Trail runs from Athabasca to Swan Hills. This trail links to the Golde Triangle trail system running from Whitecourt to Edson.

To reach the clubhouse and main staging area from Athabasca, head west on Highway 2 for 3 kilometers. Athabasca is located about 150km north of Edmonton.

From the staging area, the trailhead continue due west towards Swan Hills.

Overall, Athabasca is the 10th most popular snowmobile trail of all 47 snowmobiling rides in Alberta. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Athabasca including Edson, Fort McMurray, Fort Saskatchewan, Swan, Grande Prairie and Bonnyville.
