Just south of State College, the Rothrock State Forest has miles of snowmobile trails. There are two main areas: Seven Mountains and Trough Creek.
To reach the Trough Creek State Park snowmobile trailhead from the intersection of Main Street and SR 829 in Cassville, head west on Main Street (Seminary Lane) for .75 mile. Veer right onto Cassville Road and go 5 miles. Turn right on Trough Creek Drive and travel .25 mile to a T in the road. Straight ahead is the Trough Creek State Park where there is a parking lot.
Note: on the trail map, the solid line shows routes shared by sleds and motor vehicles. The dotted line indicates snowmobile only traffic.
While snowmobiling Rothrock State Forest, all snowmobiles must have a valid registration with the Pennsylvania Department Of Conservation And Natural Resources. The registration can be obtained from the PA DOC directly or through one of 1,000 dealers in the state. For more details on snowmobile registration for snowmobiling at the Trough Creek Snowmobile Trail, you can call the PA DOC at (866) 545-2476.
Overall, Trough Creek Snowmobile Trail is the 20th most popular snowmobile trail of all 24 snowmobiling rides in Pennsylvania.
