Black River State Forest Snowmobiling

The 6th most popular snowmobile trail in Wisconsin.

East of Black River Falls in Jackson County, the 67,000 acre Black River State Forest and Jackson County Forest has 98 miles of snowmobile trails through pine and oak forests. The trails are blazed in orange. The Forest lies on the edge of the glaciated central plain east of the rough coulee region or driftless area of Wisconsin.

The snowmobiling trailhead for the Black River State Forest is located on US12 southeast of Black River Falls at Castle Mound.

While snowmobiling Black River State Forest, the state of Wisconsin requires that all snowmobiles display a Wisconsin snowmobile registration decal. For non-residents, if the snowmobile is registered in another state, then they can purchase a non-resident snowmobilie trail pass.
