Near Dodgeville in Iowa County of southwestern Wisconsin, the 5,000 acre Governor Dodge State Park has snowmobiling trails winding through narrow gorges past soaring rock sculptures of limestones and sandstones. Get ready for steep hills, bluffs, deep valleys, oak-hickory woods and a waterfall.
The Horse-Snowmobile Trail (Exterior Loop) is a 15.3-mile loop trail winds its way through some of the most scenic and remote areas of this 5,270-acre park. At the southeast corner of the park, there is a snowmobile access trail that connects with the 39-mile Military Ridge snowmobile trail.
While snowmobiling Governor Dodge State Park, the state of Wisconsin requires that all snowmobiles display a Wisconsin snowmobile registration decal. For non-residents, if the snowmobile is registered in another state, then they can purchase a non-resident snowmobilie trail pass.
Overall, Governor Dodge State Park is the 10th most popular snowmobile trail of all 29 snowmobiling rides in Wisconsin.
