North of Boise near McCall, there are over 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails at elevations ranging from 5,000 to 8,000 feet. Many local riders consider the snowmobiling trail system to the southwest of McCall around West Mountain to be the best in the region. There are three main snowmobile trailhead parking areas serving the West Mountain Area: Mill Creek Parking Lot (northeast of Council), Tamarack Falls Parking Lot (south of McCall) and the Anderson Creek Parking Lot (southwest of Cascade Reservoir).

The McCall snowmobile trails are maintained by the McCall Area Snowmobilers club.

Overall, McCall is the 3rd most popular snowmobile trail of all 19 snowmobiling rides in Idaho.
