North of Montague, the West Shore Trail is a 55 mile groomed snowmobile route.

The snowmobiling trailhead for the West Shore is located north of Montague. To reach the trailhead from Montague from the intersection of US 31 and Fruitvale Rd. (Business US 31) north of Montague, park on the west side of the highway at a Park and Ride. The trail is to the south and can be accessed by taking the old rail trail.

Overall, West Shore is the 23rd most popular snowmobile trail of all 36 snowmobiling rides in Michigan.
