West of Bend in the Deschutes National Forest, the Mount Bachelor area has 200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails at elevations ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 feet. The trails roll through pine forest and up to the treeline on previously volcanic terrain. While snowmobiling around Mt Bachelor, keep an eye out for cross-country skiers who also use these trails.
To reach the Mt Bachelor snowmobiling trailhead from Bend, head west on Franklin Street and follow to Galveston Street. Turn right heading west on Galveston Street crossing the river. Continue on Galveston Street to the round-about at NW14th Street. Head south on NW14th Street (aka CR372 and FS46) for 19.8 miles. The ski area is on the left, but the Dutchman Flat SnoPark is on the right.
