West of Ely near Tower, the Arrowhead State Trail is a 135 mile snowmobile route from Tower to International Falls. It connects with the Taconite State Trail in the south near Tower.

To reach the snowmobiling trailhead for the Arrowhead State Trail on the southern part of the trail (north of SR1) from the intersection of SR 1 and SR 135 in Tower go west on SR 1 for 6.5 miles. Parking is on the right.

Overall, Arrowhead State Trail is the 1st most popular snowmobile trail of all 38 snowmobiling rides in Minnesota. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Arrowhead State Trail including Taconite State Trail, Voyageurs National Park and Ely.
