West of St. Paul near Willmar, the Glacial Lakes State Trail has a 12 mile section open to snowmobiles from Willmar to New London.

To reach the Willmar snowmobiling trailhead (southern trailhead) from the intersection of US 12 and US 71 in Willmar, go north on US 71 for 1.25 miles. Go Northeast on Civic Center Rd. (15th Ave.) for 0.5 miles to parking.

Overall, Glacial Lakes State Trail is the 13th most popular snowmobile trail of all 38 snowmobiling rides in Minnesota. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Glacial Lakes State Trail including Minnesota Valley State Trail, Douglas State Trail, Luce Line State Trail and Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail.
