Chichaqua Valley Trail Snowmobiling

The MOST popular snowmobile trail in Iowa.

East of Bondurant, the Chichaqua Valley Trail is a 20 mile snowmobile route from Bondurant to Baxter. The Chichaqua Valley Trail is built on an old railroad bed and now has either a crushed gravel or asphalt surface. This is part of a proposed 110 mile snowmobile trail loop.

To reach the Bondurant snowmobiling trailhead for the Chichaqua Valley Trail from the intersection of NE 78th Avenue and US 65 in Bondurant, go east on NE 78th Avenue for 1 mile. Turn left (north) on NE 88th Street and go about .3 mile to parking.

Note: As of January 2010, the section in Jasper County has been confirmed as still open to snowmobiling. The section in Polk County is now closed to snowmobiling.

Overall, Chichaqua Valley Trail is the 1st most popular snowmobile trail of all 25 snowmobiling rides in Iowa.
