The Prairie Farmer Trail is a 20 mile route from Calmar to Cresco open to snowmobiling. The Prairie Farmer Trail snowmobile route follows an old railroad grade through prairie. Note: snowmobiling is only permitted on the section from Ridgeway to Cresco.

To reach the Cresco Trailhead: Access the trail at the County Line Parking area that is located two miles east of Cresco and immediately south of Highway 9.

Overall, Prairie Farmer Trail is the 6th most popular snowmobile trail of all 25 snowmobiling rides in Iowa.
