Near Dubuque, the Heritage Trail is a 26 mile route from Dubuque to Dyersville open to snowmobiling. It follows an old railroad grade through deep rugged woodlands with sheer limestone bluffs.

To reach the snowmobiling trailhead for the Heritage Trail from the intersection of US 52 and US 20 in Dubuque, go north on US 52 for 5.25 miles. Turn left on Rupp Hollow Rd. / Deere St. Go .2 miles to the trail.

Overall, Heritage Trail is the 3rd most popular snowmobile trail of all 25 snowmobiling rides in Iowa.
