South of Pittsfield near Monterey in the southern Bershires, the Beartown State Forest is the trailhead for over 25 miles of snowmobile trails.

To reach the snowmobiling at the Beartown State Forest from the Mass Turnpike (US90), use Exit #2. Head west on SR102 to SR7. Continue south on SR7 to SR23. Continue west on SR23 toward Monterey (Blue Hill Road), then follow the brown signs to the trailhead parking.

Overall, Beartown State Forest is the 8th most popular snowmobile trail of all 18 snowmobiling rides in Massachusetts. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Beartown State Forest including Mount Greylock State Reservation, Tolland State Forest, Adams , Pittsfield State Forest, Buckland and Otis.
