North of Springfield near Wendell, the 7,500 acre Wendell State Forest has miles of snowmobiling trails through hardwood and pine forests.

To reach the snowmobiling in Wendell State Forest, follow SR2 to Exit 12. Turn south on SR63 through Miller Falls for 0.75 miles. Turn left heading east onto Wendell Road and continue across the railroad bridge. Wendell Road turns into Montague Road. Follow the signs.

Overall, Wendell State Forest is the 9th most popular snowmobile trail of all 18 snowmobiling rides in Massachusetts. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Wendell State Forest including Kenneth Dubuque State Forest, Conway , Worthington and Whately .
