Best St Croix State Forest Snowmobiling

South of Duluth and southwest of Marksville in Pine County, the St Croix State Forest ATV and Snowmobile Trail is heavily used by ATV riders in the summer and snowmobiliers in the winter. The 23 mile snowmobile route is well marked and maintained. There are 4 trailhead parking areas.

To reach the St Croix State Forest Snowmobile Trail from Markville, head west on CR 25. Take a left on CR 173 and anther left onto Tamarack Forest Rd to reach the main trailhead. Other trailheads are located off CR 25 on St Croix Forest Rd and off of CR 173 past Tamarack Forest Rd.

Overall, St Croix State Forest is the 7th most popular snowmobile trail of all 38 snowmobiling rides in Minnesota. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby St Croix State Forest including Willard Munger State Trail, Fond Du Lac State Forest, McCarthy Beach State Park, North Shore State Trail and Duluth.
