West of Duluth and northeast of Cromwell, the Fond Du Lac State Forest has a 30 mile trail system open to snowmobiling.

The trailhead is located 7 miles east of Brookston on US2.

Overall, Fond Du Lac State Forest is the 17th most popular snowmobile trail of all 38 snowmobiling rides in Minnesota. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Fond Du Lac State Forest including Willard Munger State Trail, St Croix State Forest, McCarthy Beach State Park, North Shore State Trail and Duluth.
