Colorado State Forest Snowmobiling

The 18th most popular snowmobile trail in Colorado.

Southeast of Walden near Gould, there is a nice snowmobile loop through the Colorado State Forest State Park in the Medicine Bow Mountains.

To reach the snowmobiling trailhead for the Colorado State Forest from Walden, head southeast on SR14 towards Gould. Just before Gould, turn left heading northeast into the Colorado State Forest State Park and park near the headquarters.

Note: the trails are maintained with the assistance of the North Park Snow Snakes Club.

All snowmobiles operating on federal lands within Colorado are required to be registered with Colorado State Parks. This registration permit is available at most National Forest ranger offices and at some chamber of commerce offices. It is highly recommended to purchase the $3 annual Colorado Search And Rescue Card (CORSAR) prior to snowmobiling to help reimburse local search teams should they be needed.

Overall, Colorado State Forest is the 18th most popular snowmobile trail of all 24 snowmobiling rides in Colorado.
