Each of Chico and west of Quincy, the Bucks Lake Snowmobile Trails are a 100+ mile network of groomed snowmobling trails maintained by the Bucks Lake Snowdrifters Club.

There are two snowmobiling trailheads for Bucks Lake: Four Trees Staging Area in the west and Big Creek Staging Area in the east.

Overall, Bucks Lake is the 20th most popular snowmobile trail of all 31 snowmobiling rides in California. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Bucks Lake including Jonesville Snowmobile Area, Hume Lake, Hot Springs Area, Greenhorn Summit, Tule River / Hot Springs Area and Kaiser Pass TrailheadWhiskey Trail.
