Best Skalkaho Pass Snowmobiling

The 24th most popular snowmobile trail in Montana.

South of Missoula and southeast of Hamilton, the Skalkaho Pass area has 25 miles of groomed snowmobile trails accessing open play areas and ungroomed trails. The Skalkaho-Sleeping Child-Rye Creek Area has 31 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, looping through higher elevations.

Skalkaho Pass (7,260 feet) is located two miles south of Hamilton, and then 15 miles east on SR38.

Overall, Skalkaho Pass is the 24th most popular snowmobile trail of all 33 snowmobiling rides in Montana. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Skalkaho Pass including Red Lion - Georgetown Lake, Deer Lodge, Bloody Dick Trail, Schultz - Johnson Trail, Stewart Meadows Complex and Twin Lakes.
