West of Park Rapids and Osage, the Smokey Hills State Forest Trail System has 30 miles of loops open to snowmobile riding.

To reach the snowmobiling at Pine Grove Wayside Rest picnic area from Osage, head east on SR34 through the Village of Smoky Hills. The picnic area is at the intersection of Navallus Forest Road.

Overall, Smokey Hills State Forest is the 22nd most popular snowmobile trail of all 38 snowmobiling rides in Minnesota.
