North of Toronto and Barrie, the area northwest of Lake Simcoe has a 1,200km network of groomed snowmobile trails. The trails are maintained by the Mid Ontario Snowmobile Trails group, which is an association of 6 snowmobile clubs including: Barrie Snowmobile Club, Blue Mountain Snowdrifters, Carden Sno Drifters, Georgian Bay Snowriders, Sno Voyageurs Club, and the Wasaga Snowmobile Club.

Note: A valid trail permit is required to ride these snowmobile trails.

Overall, Mid Ontario is the 17th most popular snowmobile trail of all 37 snowmobiling rides in Ontario.
