Just north of Portland, the Cumberland snowmobiling trail system is maintained by the Moonlite Sno-Skimmers Snowmobile Club. The snowmobile trail access is in Cumberland Center. The main north-south snowmobile route, ITS89 is located further west from Cumberland Center.

For snowmobiling near Cumberland and the rest of state, all riders, resident and non-resident alike, must register their snowmobiles in Maine to ride in Maine. Most of the registration money goes to the Snowmobile Trail Fund of the Department of Conservation. Registration information is available at (207) 287-2043. After registration, make sure to read the Maine Snowmobile Law Book. Note: it is illegal to ride ATVs on designated snowmobile trails.

Overall, Cumberland is the 25th most popular snowmobile trail of all 25 snowmobiling rides in Maine. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Cumberland including Buxton, Lewiston Trail System, Harrison, Otisfield and Gorham.
