Northeast of Prince Albert and north of Candle Lake, the Whelan Bay Trail System has 150km of snowmobile trails.

The Whelan Bay area can be reached from Candle Lake by heading north on Highway 913 for about 30 minutes.

The Whelan Bay snowmobiling trails are maintained by the Whiteswan Snow Hawks Snowmobile Club.

Overall, Whelan Bay is the 12th most popular snowmobile trail of all 17 snowmobiling rides in Saskatchewan. Several of the better snowmobile trails are nearby Whelan Bay including Meadow Lake, Nipawin, Lac La Ronge, Melfort, Forest Fringe and Hudson Bay.
